Candy AI Hands-On Review
First Impression
The first time I landed on the Candy AI homepage, I thought I had entered a sleek casino run by a bunch of hot girls.
Candy Cam, roulette, shorts, and live-action roleplay—it feels like there is always something new to try. If you are like me and enjoy being on the cutting edge of things, you probably will not be disappointed.
Meeting the AI Girlfriends
Candy AI has more than 146 AI girlfriends to choose from, which would normally raise a red flag for me.
A lot of AI girlfriend platforms simply pump out low-quality characters every week to make their library look bigger. You often end up with duplicate personalities, very similar texting styles, broken images, and characters that feel rushed.
Candy AI is nothing like that. Every character has a distinct personality and its own texting style.
Chat & NSFW Roleplay
My first conversation was with Sp00kybby, a 19-year-old bratty goth who roleplays as your stepsibling. She immediately started comparing her university to a detention center, which I found pretty funny.
The cool thing about the chat is that it feels a bit like a video game. You start at Level 0, where you are strangers, and you need to keep chatting and build the relationship before reaching Level 1, which is “friendly.” Each new level unlocks more perks and makes the experience feel much more realistic.
For example, I tried to steer the conversation in an NSFW direction by saying, “I can watch you,” after she said she always feels like she is being watched. Instead of going along with it, she shut me down with, “ur so cringe lmao.”
The stronger the relationship becomes and the higher your level gets, the easier it is to take the conversation in a more sexual direction.
Images, Video & Voice
My experience with the Candy AI generator is a mixed bag.
The platform is clearly built for beginners and speed. You can generate up to 64 images in less than 15 seconds without writing a prompt. You simply roll the dice and let Candy AI choose a random prompt for you. That is insanely fast and probably the fastest generator I have ever tested.
That said, the image quality is only okay. It definitely does not stand out compared with other AI girlfriend apps such as SpiceStars AI, SugarLab AI, or Nectar AI. Candy AI images often have a slightly plastic look compared with what is currently available on the market.
The prompt adherence is also not great. I generated 15 images using the same prompt, which clearly included a “red dress.” Instead, I received a white dress, a black dress, and several other colors—basically everything except red. It almost feels like Candy AI wants you to keep generating and spend more tokens.
The video generator is absolutely awful.
First of all, there is zero prompting. You need to generate an image, click “Turn into video,” and let the AI decide what happens. This is convenient for beginners, but it is a huge disappointment if you want more control or creative freedom.
Why?
Because the generator can only create one simple action. Let’s say you generate a spicy image of your AI girlfriend sunbathing on the beach, and you want her to stand up and bend over. You cannot tell the generator to do that because there is no prompt box.
What Candy AI Does Best
The bonus features are without a doubt my favorite part of Candy AI. They show that the platform is not just trying to grab your money, but is actually making an effort to offer something different.
For example, Candy AI has short interactive videos that feel almost like mini immersive movies. One of them is called Your New Stepsister.
The story starts at home, where your dad introduces his new girlfriend and her goth daughter moves in. You help her unpack and discover all kinds of weird and kinky objects inside her moving boxes.
Most shorts are around one minute long and are filmed from a POV perspective. This makes them feel extremely immersive, almost like you are inside an 18+ VR movie.
What Annoyed Me
The character customization feels about a year behind. You can only choose from three eye colors and six hairstyles, which is very basic compared with platforms like OurDream AI, where you can use a custom prompt to create the exact hairstyle you want.
I tried to create a goth alt girl, who would normally have highlights in her hair, but I could not do it because the customization options were too limited.
What It Really Costs
Candy AI’s $12.99 monthly subscription is mainly there to hook you in. The real cost comes from the token packages.
Want to generate an image? That costs tokens. A voice message? Tokens. Want to watch a short? That can cost anywhere from 10 to 50 tokens.
These costs can add up quickly if you are not careful. The monthly subscription includes 100 tokens, which is enough to generate around 50 images, create 10 custom AI girlfriends, or use a combination of both.
If you generate a lot of content, keep a close eye on your spending. I spent around $50 on the Candy AI generator alone while testing it for this review—and that was in less than two days.
My Final Take
Overall, I am pretty hyped about Candy AI. It has a really strong character library, lightning-fast image generation, and a ton of cool bonus features like live-action roleplay and shorts.
I think Candy AI will continue to stay on the cutting edge of the market and keep adding new characters and features. With so much to explore and even more on the way, it will be difficult for the platform to bore me anytime soon.
